Weekend of January 27+28

Parenting better starts with connected marriages

Being a “good parent” can be one of those vague, shame-inducing, unattainable goals. There’s no shortage of experts and techniques, but we often miss one of the most important aspects of our parenting: our marriages. Join us on Monday, February 12, 6-8 pm, and choose from one of two speakers and topics: 1. Seeking connection amid struggle– How to sit in your spouse’s pain and frustration, while moving together, rather than fighting against each other. 2. Bids for connection– Understanding and engaging in the small, big, verbal, or nonverbal bids or requests to connect with your spouse and family. Growing in this skill will break down barriers to vulnerability and deepen relational connection. Dinner and childcare included. $5/person. Register by February 7 by clicking here.

Join a small group this winter

We all need people to walk through life with us and help us follow Jesus. Small groups help our big church feel smaller and more connected, and each meeting consists of discussion around the most recent sermon, prayer, fellowship time, and of course, food. We have groups meeting every day of the week as well as groups at every age/stage of life. And – bonus – it’s OK to try more than one group to find one that fits you! Interested? Get started here.

Five Oaks Kids volunteers training and appreciation
If you (or your student) serve in Five Oaks Kids, please join us on Saturday, February 3 at 6 pm for dinner and a time to connect with others who serve. We’ll also have some training and time for questions. If your child serves and you don’t, you’re welcome to attend with your child to help you stay updated. Our subs are also welcome to attend. Register for the training here. Questions? Email Kelly Bauman.

Let’s play basketball!

Did you know that Five Oaks Students has a basketball team? On Friday, February 2, Hope Farm School will challenge our team on the court. This event is always an electrifying night that brings our middle school and high school ministry together for a unified purpose. If your student wants to come to watch and cheer on the team or play on the team, please sign up today at www.fiveoaks.church/students.  Oh – and the café will be open!

Champion a Five Oaks Impact ministry partner
Are you looking for a way to serve our city in the name of Jesus, but just haven’t found the right opportunity?  Being a Five Oaks IMPACT Champion could be that opportunity you’re looking for! As a Champion, you’ll help our church family to serve with one of our amazing IMPACT partner organizations, and in some cases, act as a liaison between that partner and our IMPACT team. No experience is required - just a heart to serve!  Email Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org for more info.

Help with healing from divorce or separation

DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. Thirteen weeks, Christ-centered support. Meets Mondays, 7 pm at Five Oaks. The course starts February 5. Sign up here.

Story of God: Winter classes now open for registration

Do you ever find the Bible confusing? Ever wondered how you fit into God’s plans for you? If that’s true for you, join our Story of God class, a six-week guided journey through the Bible. Learn how the Bible fits together to tell one big story. And discover how you fit into the bigger story that God has for your life. You’ll meet with a cohort once a week and can expect about 20 minutes of outside work each day. Winter classes are now open!  Details and registration available here. Questions? Email Jonathan Haage.

Love is in the air...so let’s pack meals!
Share your LOVE for children in desperate need of food around the world by joining with your Five Oaks family members to pack meals at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan on February 10, from 9 am to 10:45 am. Interested? Details and registration available here. Questions? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Baby items donations are due this weekend!

Women and families facing an unplanned pregnancy can often feel overwhelmed, alone, and frightened. We partner with two organizations that help navigate this journey with women and families who find themselves in this spot. Each year in January, we host a baby items drive in partnership with New Life Family Services and Woodbury Options for Women. Here is a list of needed supplies. Sometime in the next three weeks, please pick up a few items from the list and return them to church commons by January 28. Whether you donate or not, please also pray for these partner organizations and the families they help each year. Questions? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org .
