Weekend of October 7+8

Want to be a difference maker at FIve Oaks?

One of the easiest ways to make connections at Five Oaks is to jump into a serving role. We have many ways to get involved, from highly visible roles, such as teaching kids on the weekend, to behind-the-scenes roles, such as deconstructing the set after youth group, to roles that can be completed from home, such as writing for our DailyLife team or praying for our congregation. Each of these spots is essential in helping to not only bless others, but also in helping make Five Oaks the welcoming place it is for new people. This weekend we’re celebrating all of you who give your time to help build our community at Five Oaks. THANK YOU for all the ways you give your time and serve others. If you’d like to learn more about how you can use your gifts to make a difference, click here to get started.

Welcome to our new pastoral resident!
Join us this weekend as we welcome Sam Hendry and his wife, Vera, and their four children, to Five Oaks. Sam is joining our staff as our new pastoral resident. Sam and Vera will be introduced during our worship services and available for chatting between services. Help us welcome them well by stopping to introduce yourself! They’ll be hanging out over.by the connect wall in the commons.

Financial Peace University starts Sunday! It’s not too late!
Finances seem to be the last thing we want to to think about but the most problematic when we don’t. Financial Peace University equips you with tools and rhythms in your finances that actually let you think about it less and experience more peace because you have a great plan. Join the fall session of FPU starting October 8 during our 10:45 am service. Kids may attend Five Oaks Kids during FPU. Scholarships available based on need. Interested? Details and registration here.

interested in a family mission trip?
No, it’s not too early to be thinking about SUMMER 2024! A mission trip with your family promises to provide a shared experience and to plant seeds for serving God’s people for many years to come. If you’d like to explore the possibility of a summer family mission trip, join us for one of two introductory info sessions, both at 10:15 in Room 105, on October 8 or October 15. Walk-ups are welcome! Can’t make it? Email Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Fifth Grade Fun Night: invite friends and register now!
Fifth grade is traditionally known as the “I’ve got this” phase. Kids are growing in their independence, yet still have a lot of learning to do before they fly the nest. To help kids feel confident and ready to transition to youth group in sixth grade, we offer several fifth grade-only events each year. The first one this year is on Friday, October 13, 6:30-8:30 pm at Five Oaks and will include fall games and fun activities! Register here.

Camp Getaway: Register now!
High schoolers often run a very busy schedule, so a weekend away with friends for games, worship, learning about their place in the Story of God, and meeting new friends is super important. Registration is now open for our annual fall campout. We’re going back to Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch this year, November 3-5. More details and registration here. Questions? Email students@fiveoakschurch.org.

Impact “drive season” is underway!

Our church community loves to jump in and help fill a need! Over the next few months we’ll be introducing you to several local IMPACT partners who are serving different groups of our neighbors in need. Along with each introduction we’ll be conducting a supply “drive” for that organization to help meet the needs of the people they are serving. The Dwelling Place kicked off our first drive of the season. This organization serves women and children in our community who are seeking escape from domestic violence. Please check the info table in the commons this weekend to learn more and to get a shopping list for The Dwelling Place. All donations for The Dwelling Place are due back by October 15. Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Parenting Event for every stage
Because every parenting phase is unique, you need resources along the way. Our Family Team is hosting a parenting event with four different breakout sessions for four different situations. Whether you’re dealing with mental health, want to grow as a spiritual leader in your home, want to be prepared for having intentional conversations about sexuality and body changes, or are preparing for the college application and financial path, we will have live teaching, discussion, and Q&A for each breakout. Join us Monday, October 9, 6:30-8:30 pm. This is a registration only event without childcare, so register here. Light snacks provided. Spots are limited, and registration closes Friday, October 6.

Share a meal and learn more about Impact ministry

If God is stirring your heart for ways to impact our community and world for Jesus, please join us for our next Impact Cohort gathering. This cohort is an opportunity for Five Oakers who are leaning in on Impact to pray, share a meal, share updates, stories, plans and ideas - and brainstorm together on how we can do more for Jesus outside the walls of our church. The next cohort meeting will be on  October 16, 6-9 pm at church. Interested? Please RSVP by Emailing Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Help feed the world

You and your family can help change lives of children across the world by traveling as far as Eagan. Join the Five Oaks community as we pack meals together at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. Kids as young as 5 years old can help with an adult, so this is great for your whole family, small group, or neighbors! October 28, 9 am. Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. Register here.
