Weekend of October 14+15

so many block party wins!

Thanks to you, Five Oaks family, for coming out to the neighborhood block party! We had over 20 new neighbor families walk over to join the festivities, and you all made a great effort to welcome them to the neighborhood! We had hundreds of tacos and egg rolls and plenty of ice cream as well! The big hit of the night was the bubble station that created fun and connection for everyone. Thanks, church family, for being a church who cares for our new neighbors and also knows how to celebrate God’s goodness with a party!

Interested in a family mission trip? Join us for an info session this Sunday!
No, it’s not too early to be thinking about SUMMER 2024! A mission trip with your family promises to provide a shared experience and to plant seeds for serving God’s people for many years to come. If you’d like to explore the possibility of a summer family mission trip, join us for an introductory info session, October 15 in room 105. Walk-ups are welcome! Can’t make it? Email Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Last call: - Prayer and supplies for The Dwelling Place
Don’t forget to pray for our current Drive Season partner, The Dwelling Place, as they serve women and children in our community who are seeking escape from domestic violence.  Also, if God has moved you to purchase supplies for these women and children, don’t forget to purchase those supplies and return them to church by this weekend (October 15).   If you’d like to help out with supplies, but didn’t get a list of the needed supplies, just contact Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org for a copy of the list.

Help with healing from divorce or separation — starts Monday
DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. In this 13-week Christ-centered support group program, you’ll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making. The group meets at Five Oaks Church at 7 pm on Monday evenings, starting October 16. (But OK to jump in anytime!) Interested? Details and registration here: www.divorcecare.org.

Last call for baptisms & dedications
Are you ready to celebrate a big milestone in your faith journey? The weekend of October 28+29 is our next Faith Milestone Celebration where we come together and celebrate family dedications and baptisms. If you (or a family member) is interested in either of those, please email Kelly Bauman. We need to know by Monday, October 16 if you would like to participate.

No youth group next week!
Since we follow the school calendar, remember that we won’t meet for youth group on October 18. Enjoy the great outdoors while the weather allows or enjoy that family getaway. Please take a few minutes throughout the week to pray for your teachers as they, too, get a short break and rest.

Camp Getaway: Register now!
High schoolers often run a very busy schedule, so a weekend away with friends for games, worship, learning about their place in the Story of God, and meeting new friends is super important. Registration is now open for our annual fall campout. We’re going back to Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch this year, November 3-5. More details and registration here. Questions? Email students@fiveoakschurch.org.

Share a meal and learn more about Impact ministry

If God is stirring your heart for ways to impact our community and world for Jesus, please join us for our next Impact Cohort gathering. This cohort is an opportunity for Five Oakers who are leaning in on Impact to pray, share a meal, share updates, stories, plans and ideas - and brainstorm together on how we can do more for Jesus outside the walls of our church. The next cohort meeting will be on  October 16, 6-9 pm at church. Interested? Please RSVP by Emailing Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Help feed the world
You and your family can help change lives of children across the world by traveling as far as Eagan. Join the Five Oaks community as we pack meals together at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. Kids as young as 5 years old can help with an adult, so this is great for your whole family, small group, or neighbors! October 28, 9 am. Feed My Starving Children in Eagan. Register here.

Women: The winter retreat is now open for registration
Laides, join us on February 23-25, 2024 for a weekend of worship, reflection, fellowship, relaxation, and of course Pickleball! We’ll be at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch near Rochester. Details and registration here. Questions? Email women@fiveoakschurch.org.
